At Dream's Edge

A Somnoire door has suddenly appeared in the Academy. Mornye has asked for your help investigating it.

Read Mornye's WavesLine message

Abby: Somnoire doors are only supposed to show up in the middle of nowhere! What the heck is going on?

Rover: The Ivory Gatekeeper will have answers. We'll contact it after we see Mornye and find out what's happening.

Meet up with Mornye

Mornye: Mentor, Abby. You made it.

Abby: Hey, it's been a minute—Huh?

Abby: Wait a sec. Mornye, what's up with that weird smell on ya?

Abby: Smells kinda like a Tacet Discord, kinda like a machine... but it's different from Exoswarm...

Abby: Uh... but I can't tell what it is exactly.

Mornye: ...That smell might be coming from the frequency sample I just collected.

Rover:

Mornye: Yes. We are currently running tests on it. I hope we learn something.

Mornye: Mentor, I looked into this Somnoire you mentioned... it seems to be some kind of dreamscape, correct?

Rover: It's usually guarded by two Gatekeepers. They make sure no Nightmare Tacet Discords or other frequencies cross into our reality.

Rover: Whenever there was a problem in the past, we handled it.

Rover: But we've never come across a frequency able to rewrite space itself... Has the Academy been affected?

Mornye: At this stage, the door's area of influence remains limited.

Mornye: The Academy has cordoned off a danger zone and instructed everyone to keep their distance.

Mornye: I've asked Lynae to retrieve samples for analysis. Later, I will consult with the Collective to formulate a response.

Mornye: But... all we can do is buy time. We cannot contain the frequency's spread.

Rover: Leave the investigation of the door to me. I want this resolved quickly, before it can harm the Academy.

Mornye: ...Mm, understood.

Mornye: The door's coordinates... I've sent them to your Terminal. Mentor, please be careful.

Head to the Somnoire and investigate the anomaly

Abby: No doubt about it! That nasty frequency I was sensing is coming from here!

Rover: Mornye was right, it's leaking from the other side of the door.

Rover: All right, Abby. We're going in.

Enter the abnormal Somnoire

Investigate the abnormal Somnoire

Rover: I'm picking up on more of the abnormal frequency... Abby, are you alright?

Abby: Ugh... Just a little dizzy. My body's startin' to feel so heavy...

Rover: Don't push yourself. If it gets too much, let me know.

Explore ahead

Defeat the Nightmare Tacet Discords

Rover: Are these monsters... Nightmare Tacet Discords?

Abby: Ew... they smell weird! A bit like those tin-cans in the Academy.

Abby: Gotta be careful!

Abby: Hold up, why does it seem like they're not really after us?

Rover: Got the same feeling. These Nightmare Tacet Discords were looking for something before seeing us.

Explore ahead

Find where the gunshot came from

Abby: Gunfire! Coming from behind that door!

???: ...Dammit!

Rover: We should be safe here. You alright?

???: Took a hit... But my cyberwear is still functional.

Rover: (...Cyberwear?)

Rover: (Her body bears modifications. Fractsidus work?)

Rover: (...No. On closer look, the style is different from what you see on an Artificer.)

Rover: (She might have useful intel on the problem... And she doesn't seem hostile for now. I'll give it more time to decide whether she's a threat.)

???: 'Preciate the save. But there's somethin' I gotta do...

Rover: You're still hurt. Sure you're up for it?

???: This all feels so real... But how... if not a dream?

???: David... Rebecca...

Rover:

Rover: Friends of yours?

Rover: The Somnoire is a labyrinth. You go in there blind, and you'll only get lost.

Rover: Catch your breath first. Once you're steady on your feet, I can help you look for them.

???: Somnoire...?

???: Why help me at all, a total stranger?

Rover: Best option in front of me right now. You want to find your friends, and I want to investigate the disturbance here.

Rover: In your current state, finding them alone is… optimistic.

Rover: Think of it as a temporary alliance. If we stop seeing eye-to-eye, you're free to walk away anytime.

???: Can't say I trust you yet... but...

???: I'm Lucy, 'kay?

Rover:

Lucy: Won't forget it. Your name... or your help.

Rover: Why was that Nightmare Tacet Discord targeting you specifically?

Lucy: What's a... "Nightmare Tacet Discord"?

Rover: The monster on your tail just before.

Lucy: Got no idea why... If David and Rebecca hadn't been there, I'd be...

Lucy: ...I gotta find 'em. Fast.

Lucy: Where should we go next?

Rover: We may be able to find something deeper in the Somnoire... Follow me.

Find Lucy's companions

Lucy: ...A train? What's a Night City train doing behind a door?

Rover: Night City?

Lucy: ...

Rover: You don't have to explain if you don't want to.

Rover: The Somnoire is where dreams gather. It's a place where anything can happen.

Lucy: Anything? Sure, makes sense...

Get through the mysterious train

Explore ahead

Lucy: There she is!

Approach Lucy's companion

Lucy: Rebecca!

Rebecca: Nova, looks like you made it out all right.

Rebecca: But... who's this choom? You two know each other?

Lucy: This is Rover. He pulled me out before that thing, that... Nightmare Tacet Discord could flatline me.

Rebecca: Nightmare Tacet Discord? The f*ck kinda name is that?

Rover:

Rebecca: F*ck! F*ck! F*ck! Next time I see one, I'm blastin' it!

Rebecca: Thanks for lookin' out for Lucy.

Rebecca: Name's Rebecca. Nice to meet ya, choom.

Lucy: ...Where's David? He's not with you?

Lucy: What's this?

Rebecca: After the smoke cleared, was all I could find. Guess, coverin' our backs... couldn't cover his own.

Rebecca: Didn't get a clear look, but... no one could've survived that attack. I think he...

Lucy: David's... gone?

Lucy: Agh!

Rebecca: Agh! My head's splittin'! The hell's that noise?! Is the whole place comin' down?!

Rebecca: …Lucy? Yo, gotta snap out of it!

Rover: The frequency is spreading. It's not safe here. We need to leave, now.

Rebecca: Fine, whatever! Hold on tight, Luce!

Enter the abnormal Somnoire

Explore around

Lucy: This odd feeling... What is it?

Lucy: A tattoo? But when did I...

Lucy: Is everything here... just a dream?

Lucy: But the ground beneath my feet… it feels so real.

Explore ahead

Lucy: David...? H-how?!

Search for the familiar figure

Lucy: Wait, don't go!

Explore ahead

Explore around

Lucy: Still no connection to the Net. But this device... Get the feeling I can crack it.

Lucy: Won't know till I try.

Crack the mechanisms to open the gate

Lucy: Hacking that felt easier than usual... Got somethin' to do with this tattoo?

Lucy: Whole interface feels different... Must'tve jumped to a new domain.

Lucy: ...

Lucy: Better take my time lookin' around.

Hack the camera

Overload the serve to shut down the laser

Lucy: Maybe this is all a braindance, a simulation...?

Lucy: ...No, not gettin' any trace of a BD wreath.

Lucy: Can't get a line to Misty or the Net either, not even a ping…

Lucy: The hell's goin' on?

Explore ahead

Lucy: Is this... a port into cyberspace? Why is it here?

Lucy: Encryption's weak, should try cracking it.

Enter cyberspace

Lucy: This place... Not like any part of cyberspace I've ever seen.

Explore ahead

Lucy: I can't go any deeper... Why are you showing me this?

???: What are ya mumblin' to yourself for?

Lucy: Re-Rebecca?

Rebecca: Lookin' at me like I'm a ghost, jeez. There somethin' on my face?

Lucy: But... you should be...

???: It's been a while, Lucy.

Touch Lucy's memory

Lucy: After that, you know the rest. Now, is that proof enough?

Rover:

Lucy: Still tryin' to figure that out. Ever since this mark showed up, this "Tacet Mark," my netrunning feels... upgraded? Evolved?

Lucy: Used to only work on machines, but seems I can hack 'ganics now, too.

Abby: So that's what it was... It's your Resonance Ability, huh?

Lucy: My what?

Rover: Think of it as a kind of superpower. It's how I drove back the Nightmare Tacet Discord when we met.

Lucy: And this ability differs person to person?

Lucy: Damn shame... Here I was hoping flight came as a standard feature.

Rebecca: So, you two good now or what?

Lucy: Yeah, for now. Have a little more clarity, at least.

Rover: What's your next move?

Lucy: Got a score to settle with that Nightmare Tacet Discord. Everything else can wait.

Lucy: And... David...

Rebecca: Me too! I'm itchin' to shove my iron down that thing's throat!

Rover: Good, then we want the same thing as far as that goes. I need to stop it from affecting reality.

Rebecca: So, we gear up, storm back in, and blow that bastard into chunky scop-salsa?

Rover:

Lucy: Should get a few facts straight first. This world of yours... care to spill a little more about it?

Lucy: Resonance Abilities, frequency bands... Startorch Academy…? First I've seen data on any of this.

Lucy: Think I get the gist now, though. Becca, you followin' most of this?

Rebecca: Better off askin' how much I didn't understand...

Rebecca: Whatever. We're in another universe. Got it.

Rebecca: Doesn't change what we need to do, anyway.

Lucy: Ugh!

Abby: Nightmare Tacet Discords? They shouldn't be able to leave the Somnoire! How are they here?!

Rebecca: Ew, why do they look like friggin' corpos…

Rover:

Rebecca: Seriously? Expect me to give ya lesson in lingo right now?

Lynae: Haha, she's got a point!

Lynae: Let's focus on the fight! Count me in for the catch-up afterwards!

Lucy: I'll lock 'em down with a hack. Don't get sloppy.

Defeat the Nightmare Tacet Discords

Lynae: Ugh... Why do my attacks feel so different...?

Rebecca: Huh? Dunno, but I'm crankin' it up a notch!

Rebecca: WOOOO! NOW DIE ALREADY, STUPID LAPDOGS!

Lynae: Phew… glad I made it.

Lynae: I was collecting data nearby when I heard the commotion. Didn't expect to run into you guys.

Lynae: So? Pretty stylish entrance, right?

Rover:

Rebecca: How'd you make that graffiti explode?! So f*ckin' nova! That spray can some kinda weapon?!

Lynae: That's… kinda hard to explain…

Lynae: Oh! Actually, I was gonna ask… during the fight I noticed…

Lynae: The glow-job on your gun… is that, like, inspired by graffiti?

Rebecca: Heh. Spotted that, did ya?

Rebecca: Picked the color scheme myself. Preem, right? Totally screams my style.

Lynae: For sure, it's got your vibe all over it!

Rebecca: Hehe, keep the compliments rollin'!

Rebecca: Speaking of, your piece is killer, too... Lemme see?

Lynae: Sure! Here you go.

Rebecca: Whoa, sick... Adorable AND tuned to perfection...?

Rebecca: Plus that muzzle mod's legit! You know your iron!

Rebecca: Name's Rebecca. Or Becca, or Becs – whatevs.

Lynae: I'm Lynae. Nice to meet you, Rebecca!

Lucy: Lucy. We're tyin' up some loose ends here. Try to stay outta your hair.

Lynae: Sure, make yourselves at home!

Lynae: By the way, I haven't seen you around before... New students?

Rover:

Lynae: Ahaha, look at you, all conflicted. Fine, I won't pry.

Lucy: Prolly a good call.

Rebecca: If we told ya we're edgerunners from Night City, would that get your neurons firin'?

Lynae: Night City? Edgerunners?

Rebecca: Yeah, don't sweat it. Good chooms are good chooms, no matter where or when you find 'em, right?

Lynae: …Yeah, you're right!

Rover:

Lynae: It's slow, but the frequency leaking from the door has kept spreading.

Lynae: The Academy is saying nothing's wrong to avoid panic. Classes and drills are running as normal.

Lynae: But that's just a stopgap. Ugh... I really hope we can fix this before everyone finds out.

Lynae: On that note, Rover, did you notice something?

Lynae: When we were fighting those Nightmare Tacet Discords, my attacks were way weaker than all of yours. Could barely scratch 'em.

Lynae: I mean, I have been slacking on training to chase credits... but that's not it, is it?

Rover: It happened to me, too. There's a unique Tacet Discord on the other side of that door. It resisted all standard attacks.

Rover: These aren't normal Tacet Discords. Lynae, can you report this directly to President Lucilla? We need her insight.

Rover: After that, I'll go with you to see Mornye. When you deliver the data, I'll brief her on our guests.

Lynae: Copy that. I'll grab the data samples first, plus an extra copy for the President!

Rebecca: Then I'll come with...

Lynae: Rebecca?

Rebecca: Just remembered somethin' I gotta hash out with Rover. You go ahead.

Lucy: Lynae... right? She's an interesting variable.

Lucy: And you mentioned a "Mornye" earlier? Who's that?

Rover: A professor here at Startorch. She may have insights into the Tacet Discords we've been facing.

Lucy: Calling in a consultant, huh? Sure.

Lucy: Just... gimme a sec before we roll, yeah?

Exchange information with Lucy

Lucy: ...

Rover:

Lucy: Puttin' together a sitrep. Listing anomalies, gaps in intel.

Lucy: 'Member that shard Rebecca found? Don't think it was random. It's tied to David, I'm sure of it.

Lucy: ...But I can't crack the encryption solo. I'll wait to see if your Professor Mornye has any leads.

Lucy: By the way, guessin' you still have questions 'bout my world, right? Now's as good a time as any.

Rover: You mentioned a few things before...

Rover:

Lucy: The Arasaka Corporation. A global megacorp. In a nutshell, their big biz is in security contracting, military manufacturing and finance.

Lucy: In Night City, Arasaka is the law. Everyone knows that name – for better or worse.

Lucy: Survive long enough, bound to cross paths. I'm no exception. We've got... history.

Exchange information with Rebecca

Rebecca: Tch. Didn't expect a lecture from Her Royal Iciness.

Rover:

Rebecca: Yeah, just now... Oh. Guess you didn't notice my eyes.

Rebecca: Got Kiroshi implants – y'know, cyberware. They light up when Lucy and I swap info.

Rebecca: When I stopped talkin' mid-sentence back there with Lynae?

Rebecca: That's 'cause Lucy called. Warned me not to touch the door directly. Somethin' about contamination... You get the idea.

Rover:

Rebecca: You think so? Pretty run-of-the-mill tech in Night City.

Rebecca: Hm, guess I'm curious about your world, too, though. 'Specially the Echoes. Man, I'd kill to have an Echo buddy like Abby!

Rebecca: They're kinda like pets... Takes me back to my days with Cup-Cup.

Rover:

Rebecca: Yeah, my dog. Li'l squirt was the best. Tons of fun. You woulda been chooms for sure.

Exchange information with Lynae

Lynae: Just finished my report to President Lucilla about the door.

Rover: What did she have to say?

Lynae: She's worried about the Academy. Wants to help, but is tied up with another issue. Can't pull away.

Lynae: She said she'll arrange for backup from the Collective, but for now... we're on our own.

Rover:

Lynae: Yep, I knew you'd say that!

Lynae: So, are you ready to move?

Rover:

Lynae: Then let's go see Professor Mornye.

Lynae: I'll wait here. When you're ready, just let me know.

Meet up with Mornye

Rebecca: Y'know, that spray can thingie you use is pretty nova. You buy it around here?

Lynae: The Academy doesn't have any spray can stores. Like it? I can give you one if you want.

Rebecca: No way, for real? Awesome! This place is way too squeaky clean... Could use some "color," y'know?

Rover: You okay? Do you need to stop?

Lucy: Stopping's the last thing we should do.

Lucy: I can feel it... That Nightmare Tacet Discord is looking for us...

Rebecca: Lucy!

???: This is all your fault!

Rebecca: ...Lucy! Lucy!

Rebecca: Dammit! We're still getting hacked even outta that hellscape? You all right?

Lucy: ...I'm fine. No stranger to headaches like these.

Rover: I cut the Nightmare's link to you, but I couldn't scrub the residual frequency it left behind.

Rover: To err on the side of caution, you should be examined. We can't risk a repeat of that.

Lynae: We can get you checked at the infirmary... I've already contacted Doctor Herssen. He's on standby for you.

Rebecca: We know who's behind this! Wouldn't it be quicker if we just—BOOM!—blast that scopsucker to bits?

Lucy: It's not that simple.

Lucy: In that last fight, Rover and I couldn't even scratch it. Same probably goes for you.

Lucy: It may be keyed to its distortion field. Until we find a way to crack it, engaging it is pointless.

Rebecca: Tch. Won't know till we try.

Rebecca: Whatever. Chrome maintenance is important... Should focus on gettin' patched up first.

Rover:

Rebecca: Me? Nah, I'm good. Look, bouncin' off the walls like usual, ain't I?

Rebecca: It's just a couple of scans, right? C'mon, let's go!

Rebecca: If docs give ya the willies, I could... dunno, tag along while they run their tests. No biggie.

Lucy: ...Just see me to the door.

Lynae: That was the President. She's gonna help us handle any inquiries from the Collective.

Lynae: She also dropped some bad news.

Lynae: After we left, the contamination around the door showed signs of spreading.

Lynae: And it's moving faster than they anticipated. Still contained for now, though.

Rover: Leave this to me. You get whatever data you collected back to Mornye. She'll need it to keep working on a fix.

Lynae: Sure, leave it to me!

Rebecca: Anyway, Lucy's been in there forever. What's the holdup?

Rover: This is Luuk Herrsen. One of the Academy's doctors.

Rover: How is she?

Luuk Herssen: Results confirm that the frequency disturbing her is gone.

Luuk Herssen: She was cooperative, though she does have a stubborn streak.

Luuk Herssen: I advised rest, but your companion refused. Insisted that you didn't have the time.

Luuk Herssen: We were able to reach a compromise. I agreed to give her access to the Academy's database while she receives care.

Rover:

Rebecca: Tch. That gonk ain't the patient type. Her and David, both.

Rebecca: Whatever. So long as she's in one piece. Gonna go suck some fresh air, holler if ya need me.

Rover: Something else on your mind?

Luuk Herssen: During the examination, I noted Lucy's psychological state isn't stable.

Luuk Herssen: She's vulnerable to external frequency interference. That unique Tacet Discord you mentioned seems to be targeting that weakness. Pouring salt in the wound.

Rover: Is there a treatment?

Luuk Herssen: Conditions like these don't have a quick fix. Recovery comes from a sense of safety and support, as well as time.

Luuk Herssen: All we can do is to hold space for her. The real work of healing must come from within.

Luuk Herssen: They have a connection to the Somnoire, don't they?

Rover: Lucy is linked to that Nightmare Tacet Discord somehow. Figuring it out might be our ticket to stopping the spread.

Rover: Once she's stable, I'll review the Somnoire intel with her.

Rover: I'll check with Rebecca first... Hm? Where'd she run off to?

Luuk Herssen: She said she needed some air. I believe I saw her headed toward the Recreational Program Generator.

Rover: ...Let me guess. "Fresh air" was code for dodging her own examination.

Rover: I'll track her down. Luuk, keep an eye on Lucy for me.

Luuk Herssen: Of course. While you're at it, could you give Rebecca this Terminal?

Luuk Herssen: I've registered both her and Lucy as new students. That should help with getting around the Academy unrestricted.

Rover: Thanks, Luuk.

Find Rebecca

Abby: Got a feeling that even when we find Rebecca, she's not going for that check-up.

Rover: My thoughts exactly.

Rover: It's not like we can force her. Let's just find her and make sure she's okay for now.

Rebecca: Runes? Sounds like a fantasy sim to me... 'Sides, they all look the friggin' same. Can't tell 'em apart!

Sigrika: Hmm... What if you tried imagining them as stars?

Rebecca: Pass. Don't wanna fry my circuits with that stuff.

Rebecca: Mercwork suits me better than classwork!

Sigrika: That's a special-looking gun... Is it yours?

Rebecca: Yep, custom job. Don't feel right walkin' around 'thout iron in my pocket.

Sigrika: Eh? Is where you live really that dangerous?

Sigrika: Ah, there you are, Senior!

Rover:

Rebecca: Yeah, we've been vibin'.

Sigrika: I had a lecture, but the professor sent a last-minute message to push it back.

Sigrika: Meliora wanted to stop by the arcade, so I came with her.

Sigrika: I'm actually not very good at gaming. I lost every round until Rebecca showed up and gave me a hand.

Rebecca: I was just killin' time. Didn't expect to get hooked!

Rebecca: Ended up carryin' her through a few levels. Next thing you know, we're chooms. Gotta say, prefer co-op to the solo grind.

Meliora: Not again! Ugh, can anyone even beat this game?

Rebecca: Oh, ya'll got shooters here?

Sigrika: Mm-hmm! They released it a while back.

Sigrika: I tried it, but it's really hard. I failed right at the go...

Rebecca: A challenge, huh? Now you're speakin' my language.

Meliora: Huh? Are these friends of yours?

Sigrika: Yep! Let me introduce you. This is Rover, and that's Rebecca.

Sigrika: By the way, where did Fenella go?

Meliora: She had stuff to do. Went back to the Institute with Verma.

Meliora: Ugh, I wish they were here... Maybe then I wouldn't be getting my butt handed to me.

Meliora: The final enemy swarm is just too big. Too many targets...

Rebecca: How's this thing work? Just lie back in the seat?

Meliora: Here, I'll help you set it up. What do you want the difficulty to be?

Rebecca: Maxed out, duh. Watch me clear it in one life!

Meliora: Are you sure? Max difficulty gives even veteran players a run for their money...

Rover:

Rebecca: Finally a chance to show off my moves! Heh!

Rebecca: Watch me roll credits before you can blink!

Sigrika: Rebecca, can you hear me?

Sigrika: The tutorial says the max difficulty basically drops you into a full sim. Everything will feel real...

Rebecca: So basically a braindance? Pfft. Relax! I'm a pro!

Play Tacetite Invaders 3

Rebecca: What the-- How are corpos in your game?

Meliora: Corpos? Well, enemies are simulated from your memories. Could be anything.

Rebecca: Even better. Poppin' suits is what I do best!

Rebecca: Gonna turn you from cheddar to swiss!

Rebecca: WOO! Time to cook with fire! More grenades!

Sigrika: Heads up! The hardest wave is incoming.

Meliora: This is where I tapped out last time... There were just too many of them! Watch your ammo count!

Rebecca: A swarm, huh... Time for Guts to shine!

Rebecca: That's it? Pfft. Barely even a warmup.

Rover: Here, this is the prize you just won.

Rebecca: What's this s'posed to be? A pufferfish?

Rover:

Rebecca: Huh. Not bad. Weirdly cute.

Rebecca: Here. You keep it.

Meliora: Eh? Are you sure? Thank you, Coach!

Rebecca: ...Coach? You talkin' to me?

Meliora: Yes! Coach Rebecca!

Meliora: I want to learn from you! Maybe one day I can be just like you!

Meliora: Your shooting was incredible! Are you in a club? Where did you train?

Rebecca: Uh... the Night City Club... of Lahai-Roi?

Meliora: Strange... Startorch has a club called that?

Sigrika: We can chat more next time. The professor just sent a message, Meliora. Something he needs to discuss with us.

Meliora: Oh, crap! I shouldn't keep him waiting!

Meliora: Later, everyone! Sigrika, hurry up!

Sigrika: Okay, I'm coming!

Sigrika: Let's hang out again next time!

Rebecca: So, tracked me down – what for?

Rebecca: Lemme be clear. If you're here to drag me back for an exam, I'll delta so fast you'll get whiplash.

Rover: Relax. I'm here to give you this.

Rebecca: What's this weird doodad?

Rover: Dr. Herssen helped you apply for a Terminal. Now I can ping your location and contact you whenever.

Rebecca: Oh, nice. Thanks, choom.

Rover: I just got a message from Lucy. She needs more time digging through the archives. Says to wait.

Rebecca: ...Fine. Her call.

Rebecca: You free? If she's busy, gonna poke around the Academy. Got a few things I wanna scope out.

Rebecca: Plus... Gotta field-test this bad boy!

Find Rebecca

Rebecca: Aaand done! Preem, right?

Rover:

Rebecca: Hell yeah! Ya got good taste!

Rover: I saw this symbol in Lucy's memories too. What does it mean?

Rebecca: It's David's tag. Choom had it on his jacket. Kinda like a logo, or signature.

Rover: I can tell he meant a lot to you both.

Rebecca: Damn straight. David's one of a kind...

Rebecca: Not gonna lie, I actually kinda liked that stupid fish thing I won.

Rover:

Rebecca: Dunno... A whim? Not like I coulda kept it anyway. Better it goes to someone who'll, y'know... care for it.

Rebecca: Ugh, threw up a big lure, didn't get any bites. Guess he's not here... Whatever. No sense waitin'.

Rover: You were looking for someone? Did others from your universe come to Startorch?

Rebecca: Who knows? Was kind of a long shot. Thought the tag might draw Pilar out somehow...

Rover:

Rebecca: My sh*thead older brother. In the same crew, but all he did was clown around, crack jokes and muck things up.

Rebecca: If he were still alive... prolly be yellin' about landin' some big score or other.

Rebecca: Pilar, uh... He had his head blown off by a random cyberpsycho. Wrong place, worse time.

Rover: What's a cyberpsycho? Some kind of mental illness?

Rebecca: Yeah, makes peeps snap, lose their minds.

Rebecca: Don't know the cause exactly. But they say the more chrome you chip, the closer you dance along the edge of sanity.

Rover:

Rebecca: Uh, because? More cyberware means more speed and power.

Rebecca: As for my gonkbrain brother... I know he's gone, but part of me still hoped... y'know?

Rebecca: After all the weird sh*t that's happened, what's a little hope, right?

Rebecca: Let's face it. We crash landed here, glitched out your world. Couple of bugs in the system.

Rebecca: Who knows when we'll up 'n' vanish for good...

Lucy: Don't assume sh*t you don't understand.

Rebecca: F*ck! Don'tcha know not to sneak up on a girl!

Rover:

Lucy: Mornye showed me how to use the Terminal's tracker... It's efficient.

Lucy: Mornye and I also spoke about the frequency band.

Lucy: She had useful intel. Set up a meeting with the Ivory Gatekeeper.

Lucy: Let's go. They're waiting at the Research Institute.

Head to the Research Institute

Lucy: So, Mornye mentioned that the Ivory Gatekeeper... is a cat?

Lucy: Cats are a rare sight in Night City...

Rover:

Lucy: Let's go meet this feline.

Lucy: Cool. Just tell me when you're ready.

Rebecca: Whoa! A kitty!

Lucy: So, this is the "Ivory Gatekeeper"...?

Rover: What's the situation with the Somnoire now?

Mornye: The frequency's spread is accelerating. The affected area has doubled in the last half-hour.

Mornye: While the Gatekeeper and I were researching solutions, Lucy contacted me...

Mornye: The frequency band she described is precisely what we were searching for.

Ivory Gatekeeper: Thank you all for coming, meow. I'm the Ivory Gatekeeper. I oversee the Somnoire, together with the Ebony Gatekeeper.

Rebecca: Nice to meet ya, kitty-cat!

Ivory Gatekeeper: I'm not a cat. I'm the Ivory Gatekeeper.

Ivory Gatekeeper: Let's focus on why we're here. Everyone, we've found a way to fight the Nightmare Tacet Discord.

Ivory Gatekeeper: Lucy, do you have the frequency band's shard with you?

Ivory Gatekeeper: Just as I thought, meow…

Ivory Gatekeeper: I'll explain. This shard Lucy recovered is part of what my colleague and I call a Dream Band.

Ivory Gatekeeper: It is a manifestation of frequency in the flesh. It only appears in the Somnoire under the rarest of conditions... This is my first time seeing one as well.

Ivory Gatekeeper: From what I can tell, aside from the one in your possession, there should be two more Dream Band shards.

Rover:

Ivory Gatekeeper: Well meow... how to put it? The Nightmare Tacet Discord and the Dream Band are two sides of the same coin.

Ivory Gatekeeper: Their frequencies are perfect inversions. Harness the power of the Dream Band, and you might be able to counteract the Nightmare's contamination.

Rebecca: Listen, whiskers... No offense, but can you cut the "meow" act for a sec? And maybe use words I can understand?

Ivory Gatekeeper: Meow... Awaken the Band's power, and your attacks will damage the Nightmare.

Ivory Gatekeeper: On that note, it should be complete. Why is it in shards like this...? Where did you find it?

Rebecca: Where David died protecting us from that thing... It's all that was left.

Ivory Gatekeeper: I do not know this "David," but from what I can tell, he is the embodiment of Lucy's happiness.

Lucy: Meaning... David's the key to countering the Nightmare TD?

Ivory Gatekeeper: Precisely, meow.

Rebecca: Dammit! If only I'd been faster back then…

Ivory Gatekeeper: Don't blame yourself. You still have a chance to make it all go back to the way it was.

Rebecca: ...What's that s'posed to mean?

Ivory Gatekeeper: The Nightmare Tacet Discord and the Dream Band were born in Lucy's dream. They are figments of her imagination.

Ivory Gatekeeper: Physical attacks will only disperse their forms. In other words, your companion is not gone. He exists in the form of the frequency band.

Ivory Gatekeeper: Meow... To put it in a way you can understand, if you collect all the shards, you can see David again.

Rebecca: Lucy, ya hear that?! This is great news!

Rebecca: ...Tch. You ain't even the least bit happy?

Ivory Gatekeeper: Yes, meow, you could be more— Wait. You look...

Ivory Gatekeeper: Oh, meow... This is more complicated than I thought. Lucy, you haven't told her the truth?

Rebecca: The truth? What truth?!

Rebecca: Hey! Lucy!

Rebecca: For f*ck's sake! Better spill what's goin' on!

Lucy: I can't.

Lucy: ...Even if I did, it wouldn't fix anything.

Rebecca: ...

Lucy: I'm sorry.

Rebecca: I get it.

Lucy: ...I'm sorry.

Rebecca: Lucy...

Rebecca: Some things... if ya don't say 'em now, might not get another chance.

Lucy: When this is all over, we'll talk. Just us two.

Rebecca: You catch your breath, I'll handle the others… You can owe me one.

Ivory Gatekeeper: Actually, there is one thing I want to add about the Dream Band.

Mornye: It does possess power against the Nightmare Tacet Discord. But... it's currently in pieces.

Mornye: Relying on this alone to defeat this unusual Tacet Discord isn't enough.

Rover:

Ivory Gatekeeper: It's born from the dreamer's deepest fear. Until that fear is dispelled or overcome, it may as well be immortal.

Ivory Gatekeeper: Of course, we do have other ways of defeating it.

Ivory Gatekeeper: While it is able to invade reality, it is still a figment of the dream. If the frequency of the dreamer, Lucy, were to vanish, that would bring about its end.

Rover:

Ivory Gatekeeper: I know that, meow! Why do you think I didn't say this in front of Lucy or Rebecca?

Ivory Gatekeeper: Right now, we focus on gathering the Dream Band shards to revive David. If that doesn't work, we'll cross that bridge then.

Rebecca: Yo, I'm back... What'd I miss?

???: You wish to see your friends killed again?

Lucy: If my frequency flatlines, the Nightmare TD goes with it...

Lucy: If it comes to that...

Warning: Alert! Unidentified hostiles detected! Certain areas are now in lockdown! All non-combat personnel, evacuate immediately!

Defeat the Corpos

Lucy: Someone's controlling the door. Careful. Keep your distance.

Verma: Sorry. I'm holding you back.

Fenella: This is not your fault.

Fenella: Are you... a senior? We should fight together.

Lucy: ...Just take care of the wounded. I'll handle this.

Lucy: ...These Nightmare Tacet Discords are here for me. I'll hack the door open. Get her out when I do.

Fenella: What about you?

Lucy: I'll stall 'em long as I can. Rover... My crew will be here soon.

???: Lucy...

Verma: That Tacet Discord just... spoke?

???: Lucy... listen... Do not resist... Everything will be easier.

???: You want to see David, don't you? If you remain in the dream, I can make it a reality.

Lucy: ...Shut up.

???: Do not lie to yourself. What reason do you have to return to that cold, empty world?

???: Accept my offer. All of us win. Or... would you rather see everyone slaughtered?

Verma: Are you okay?

Lucy: I'm fine. Just hurry—go!

Fenella: Tacet Discords took my father. I train and sweat to make sure no one else suffers the same fate.

Fenella: I won't let that happen this time!

Rebecca: F*ck you! Get away from them!

Rebecca: Damn... Bullets really are useless.

Rebecca: Don't know when to quit, do ya?! Show your face if you got the balls. Quit hidin' in that distortion field!

Rebecca: Listen up, you freak, or corpo lapdog or whatever you are! I'll blow ya to bits!

???: Big words for a tiny punk...

Lucy: Adam Smasher!

Rebecca: That 'borg bastard is here?!

Ivory Gatekeeper: Not really, meow! It's only an illusion the Nightmare made from your memories. Not the real person you know!

Nightmare: Adam Smasher: Scrap, all of you—only a matter of time.

Rebecca: Tch, got away again.

Rover: Are you okay?

Lucy: Just... gimme a minute.

Rebecca: Of all the faces to wear, had to be Adam Smasher's... That Nightmare TD chose a grade-A piece of sh*t.

Rover:

Rebecca: Night City's boogeyman of legend, and Arasaka's top hitman.

Rebecca: Bastard's chromed to the gills, nothin' 'ganic left in him. More killing machine than man.

Rebecca: And he'll zero anyone 'Saka tells him to. Back in Night City...

Rebecca: Anyway, just know that jerkwad's not someone you wanna mess with!

Mornye: We're in the clear now. The evacuated researchers were unharmed. Are you feeling all right?

Lucy: I'm fine... Just need a sec.

Mornye: The students you protected have been sent for treatment. They asked me to send their gratitude.

Lucy: ...Didn't do much.

Ivory Gatekeeper: I contained the Nightmare Tacet Discord by sealing the data rifts. But judging from what we saw, it's only a matter of time before it breaks out again.

Ivory Gatekeeper: That's a bad sign. We need to collect all the Dream Band shards ASAP, meow.

Ivory Gatekeeper: ...Wish it were that simple. Their locations are being jammed by the spreading frequency. Even I can't pinpoint them.

Rover: You mentioned that the Dream Band and the Nightmare Tacet Discord have opposing frequencies.

Rover: If we can analyze this shard's frequency, could we use it to cut through the interference and pinpoint the other shards?

Ivory Gatekeeper: Meow?! That's clever! Never tried it, but in theory… it should work!

Mornye: The frequency analysis... could the Institute handle it?

Mornye: We want to help resolve this Somnoire incident, as well.

Mornye: Ms. Lucy... you can trust us.

Lucy: ...Thank you.

Talk to the Ivory Gatekeeper

Ivory Gatekeeper: Now let's discuss getting Lucy back home, meow.

Ivory Gatekeeper: This is a first for me. From her description, Lucy crossed into Solaris through the Somnoire while dreaming.

Ivory Gatekeeper: That means there must be a gateway connecting the two universes. Pass through it, and she can return to her world.

Ivory Gatekeeper: That gateway should be in the deepest layer of the Somnoire. The place where the dreamer's most precious memories are held.

Ivory Gatekeeper: But I can't sense its exact location, either. You'll need to find a way to reach it yourselves.

Rover: What about the Ebony Gatekeeper? Where is he now?

Ivory Gatekeeper: Handling other sectors of the Somnoire. The contamination is spreading there, too. He's a bit swamped, meow.

Ivory Gatekeeper: Now, though I can't help you directly, I'll do my best to give you a last-ditch escape plan.

Ivory Gatekeeper: If the worst happens, I'll activate it to get you to safety.

Rover: A last-ditch escape plan? Gotta admit, that does sound cool.

Ivory Gatekeeper: You'll know it when you see it... But I sure hope you won't need to.

Mornye: Mentor... Before you set out, there's something I want to discuss with you.

Mornye: The Nightmare Tacet Discords we're facing are unique. Their frequencies can somehow weaken and neutralize our weapons' attacks.

Mornye: As the abnormal frequency continues to spread, data rifts are also appearing more frequently.

Mornye: If another intrusion occurs, the Academy likely won't be able to hold them back with what we have right now.

Rover:

Ivory Gatekeeper: Easy. Counter them with the same frequency!

Mornye: Both Lucy and Rebecca's weapons are capable of this. Rebecca's firearm, in particular, demonstrates remarkable efficacy against Nightmare Tacet Discords.

Rebecca: So, what you're sayin' is... I'm the heavy hitter?

Lucy: Yep. Maybe it's also your Resonance Ability.

Rover:

Mornye: On that point... we don't have a definitive answer yet. Our theory is that their frequencies are somehow counterbalanced by your power of Separation.

Mornye: While we can't fully decode your power, we can study and replicate the frequency signatures of Lucy and Rebecca's weapons, applying it to our own armaments.

Mornye: To brace for a probable mass-scale invasion, the Academy has rolled out defenses all around. What we lack at the moment are some frequency samples to finish the calibration.

Mornye: So, Ms. Rebecca, would you be...

Rebecca: Ya wanna study my guns? Sure, no prob.

Rebecca: We created this mess. Should prolly do our part to mop it up.

Rebecca: I might as well stick around. Any more of those freaks show up, I'll send 'em packin'!

Rebecca: That gonk would rather see your face than mine when he's back anyway.

Mornye: The Dream Band's analysis is complete. You can trace the other shards in the Somnoire with your Terminals now.

Rebecca: Just go get the shards. Meet up with you chooms once they're done eyeballin' my iron.

Lucy: ...Take mine. If those things hit again, you'll need to fight back.

Rebecca: Pfft, yeah... OK, Mom... Then what about you? You'd be unarmed.

Mornye: Ms. Lucy, you're welcome to use one of the Academy's weapons. It won't be the same, but it's better than nothing.

Lucy: Really. Rover will have my back. I'll be fine.

Rebecca: Hey, keep this dumbass safe 'til I can make it there.

Talk to Mornye

Mornye: It will take a while to study your weapon, Ms. Rebecca. Do you have something to do in the meantime?

Rebecca: You can stop callin' me "Ms. Rebecca." Ain't my vibe, like, at all. Just Rebecca's fine.

Mornye: ...I see. Then what do you plan to do now, Rebecca?

Rebecca: I'll be bored outta my gourd just sittin' here. Think I'll take a stroll 'round the Academy.

Rebecca: Yeah, I can run this spray can back to Lynae. And hey, shootin' the sh*t with Sigrika over some video games sounds pretty chill.

Mornye: Ah... I didn't realize you were already acquainted with Sigrika.

Mornye: Right now, they're likely still investigating a spatial anomaly together.

Mornye: ...We received a report not long ago.

Mornye: A wall and the ambient frequencies around it were overwritten, turning them into a state of static drift.

Mornye: Lynae also reported seeing a graffiti-like image at the anomaly's center. But we still don't fully understand what happened. The investigation isn't over yet.

Rebecca: ...Graffiti? No way...

Talk to the Ivory Gatekeeper and return to the Research Institute

Ivory Gatekeeper: Everyone's waiting. You ready to head back?

Rover:

Ivory Gatekeeper: Got it, meow.

Ivory Gatekeeper: Mm-hmm, I'll wait right here.

Talk to Meliora

Meliora: Hi, Coach!

Rebecca: Choom, c'mon... Rather you used my name.

Meliora: Copy that, Coach Rebecca!

Rebecca: Whatever... Where you headed, anyway?

Meliora: I was just on my way to check on Verma and Fenella.

Meliora: Oh, here! Try this can, Coach Rebecca!

Meliora: It's the newest flavor. Maybe you'll like it!

Rebecca: You guys live off cans, too? Eh... Sure, why not.

Meliora: I should be on my way now. See you next time, Coach Rebecca!

Talk to Sigrika

Lynae: It doesn't look like any Royan rune I've seen. Ring any bells, Sigrika?

Sigrika: Mysterious graffiti appearing out of nowhere... Not Lahai-Roi lettering, but not a rune either...

Sigrika: Hmm... this feels shifty. Smells like a conspiracy to me!

Rebecca: Yo, wassup? Why so serious?

Lynae: Ran into a snag. We're trying to track down whoever did this...

Rebecca: You mean this graffiti? On the wall here?

Rebecca: You're lookin' right at her! Preem, right?

Lynae: So that's how it was... So it still looked totally normal when you left...

Lynae: What if the Somnoire is somehow behind its change? Come to think of it, their frequency readings do seem similar.

Sigrika: Well, at least it's not a trap. That's the good news! Now, we just need fix the strange static drift.

Sigrika: Hmm... Does this graffiti have a certain meaning?

Rebecca: That's David's tag. The gonk sprayed it on his jacket, used it kinda like a signature.

Sigrika: David?

Rebecca: Yeah. David was our choom. Back in Night City...

Rebecca: Look, you can tell I'm not like you guys. It's pretty obvious I'm not from your world, ain't it?!

Rebecca: Jeez, kids here are sharp... Anyway, good. Makes layin' out the facts easier.

Rebecca: We're edgerunners—mercs, essentially. Walk a fine line 'tween gettin' paid big and gettin' flatlined.

Rebecca: This too much of downer for you, or what?

Sigrika: Absolutely not! I actually want to know more about Night City!

Rebecca: What about David's story...? You curious?

Rebecca: He was a total rookie when I met him, fresh off chippin' his Sandevistan.

Sigrika: Sandevistan... What's that?

Rebecca: A high-end piece of cyberware. Flick it on and—BOOM–you're lightning fast, and rest of the world looks like it's in slow-mo.

Rebecca: Sounds nova, right? But runnin' chrome like that takes a toll... A big one.

Rebecca: But David handled the Sandy like a pro, proved he was special... Just like that, he was one of us.

Rebecca: Then... sh*t started to go sideways....

Rebecca: Lost my idiot brother first. Got his head blown off in a back alley 'cause he wouldn't mind his own biz.

Rebecca: Then Maine, head of our crew... Got the raw end of a job gone wrong.

Rebecca: Didn't matter how much military-grade chrome he was packin'... Couldn't save his ass in the end.

Rebecca: ...I missed out on that whole damn gig. But the look on David's face that day? That, I remember.

Rebecca: Everything changed after that. David kept chroming up. Got stronger. Took over for Maine as leader of the crew.

Rebecca: Wouldn't stop pushin' himself. Told him to ease off the upgrades, but... was like talkin' to a wall.

Rebecca: Guess he just... couldn't stand the thought of losin' anyone else.

Rebecca: Well, same goes for me! Gonna protect that dork 'til the very end!

Lynae: I think you could like this place... At least, I hope you get to enjoy Academy life while you're here.

Rebecca: Well, these ain't my streets, so... Prolly gotta bounce sooner rather'n later...

Lynae: Hey, no way you're passing through without signing the guestbook first!

Rebecca: ...Hell yeah! I like how you think, choom!

Rebecca: Heh, bored with all the chitchat anyway...

Rebecca: Time to knock the rust off!

Defeat the Nightmare Tacet Discords

Rebecca: Mornye? Sh*t, you gotta call now? I'm a little busy!

Mornye: We just finished the weapon's analysis. I've arranged for remote configuration. Lynae and Sigrika, your attacks should be effective now.

Lynae: Oh yeah, it's working! Great, now it's showtime!

Rebecca: Scratch what I just said... Your timing was perfect!

Rebecca: F*ckers! Eat sh*t and die already!

Nightmare: Armed Corpo: Fall into the nightmare... Embrace your slumber...

Rebecca: Ugh, shut your glitchin' pie holes!

Rebecca: ...Another shard? No wonder those freaks were swarmin' the place!

Rebecca: And here I thought you couldn't fight! Talk about a nice surprise!

Lynae: So... this is one of the Dream Band shards Professor Mornye mentioned?

Rebecca: Yep. Guessin' that's what drew the Nightmare TDs to the Academy.

Rebecca: Sorry... Dragged you two into this mess.

Lynae: Whoa whoa, don't gotta be like that with us!

Sigrika: I think this is more of a "celebration" moment than a "sorry" one!

Rebecca: Sooo... any idea what this shard's doing here?

Sigrika: Maybe... David felt that someone was missing him, and it just... appeared?

Lynae: Ooh! That's the version I'm choosing to believe.

Rebecca: Felt someone missin' him...? Heh, sure, I'll buy that.

Rebecca: Right, now that that's wrapped up, gotta go grab my iron from Mornye and meet up with Luce.

Rebecca: You chooms keep my masterpiece safe while I'm out 'n' about, 'kay?

Lynae: Sure, I'll keep it fresh in the meantime. We're tagging again when you're back!

Sigrika: And you have to tell us about you next time!

Sigrika: But… they left a while ago…

Sigrika: Do you know how you're gonna catch up?

Lynae: C'mon, I'm sure Rebecca's already got a plan, right?

Rebecca: GAAAAAHHH! Falco! Where the hell's your jank-ass ride when I need it?! Sh*t, sh*t, SH*T!

Lynae: Not sure who this "Falco" is, but I've got an idea if you need to chase 'em down...

Lucy: Is this... Night City? No, it's different from what I remember... What's goin' on here?

Rover: Lahai-Roi seems to have affected your dreamscape.

Rover: The frequencies of both are mixing together. What we're seeing is the overlap.

Lucy: ...Got a problem. Too much signal noise. It's affecting the tracker.

Abby: My time to shine!

Rover:

Abby: My head's still spinning. Just a little. Nothing I can't power through.

Lucy: Thanks.

Lucy: Another high-tech city, but nothing like Startorch Academy, is it?

Lucy: Y'know, Night City was never really home. Just somewhere I lived for a while.

Rover:

Lucy: Can't say I love it or hate it. Some peeps see it as a place to plant roots, others—a place to escape from.

Lucy: It's true I once found a sense of comfort there. But now... feels more like a bad memory I'd rather forget.

Lucy: Know my way through the market.

Lucy: This direction.

Lucy: Locked down tight... And that's a serious firewall. Good security.

Lucy: Should be able to restore the deleted log, though. Find the key that way.

Lucy: Scans show it's nearby. Time to look around.

Explore ahead

Lucy: Looks like we're on the Nightmare TDs' radar now.

Lucy: Let's move this along, finish 'em 'fore Adam Smasher shows.

Defeat the Nightmare Tacet Discords

Explore ahead

Abby: The band's frequency is coming from behind this door. Ugh, my head's spinning again.

Rover: Great job, Abby.

Lucy: Thanks, really.

Abby: Nah, it's nothing. But I'll have to take a nap. Just holler if you need me!

Walk through the gateway

Lucy: Those translucent figures... Saw 'em mentioned in the files I scanned before.

Lucy: Reverberations that carry messages from the past, right?

Rover: Yes. Interested?

Lucy: Kinda.

Nameless Old Researcher: You sure about signing up for this the data run? Listen, Void Storms have been picking up recently. We get caught in one... that's it. No coming back.

Nameless Old Researcher: I've had my time, but you... you've still got your whole life ahead.

Nameless Young Researcher: I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. But this chance… it might be the only one we get.

Nameless Young Researcher: If we can figure out what this Threnodian really is, then maybe others can come up with the right measures to fight it.

Nameless Young Researcher: Dad, I'm doing this for the same reason you are... I want my little Rui to have a safe, happy future here in Lahai-Roi.

Nameless Old Researcher: ...When did you learn to talk so pretty? Alright. Gear up. We roll out soon.

Lucy: ...Threnodian?

Rover: The bane of civilization. Something we've always been fighting against.

Lucy: That's one helluva system threat... Can't imagine how to win against something like that.

Researcher in Protection Suit: So, what exactly are the kids at Startorch even learning all day?

Researcher in Protection Suit: I saw a schedule once. Names and times in a crammed sheet. Many courses I did not know.

Professor's Frequency: Probably just a different department's course list. Back when I was a Rabelle College student, my major was in Phase-Coating Material Sciences.

Researcher in Protection Suit: ...Doesn't sound like much fun to me. Hope you got some interesting stories out of it, hmm?

Professor's Frequency: I don't know... losing a bet and having to confess to my crush in public right outside the dorms?

Researcher in Protection Suit: You have my attention now. Details, don't be stingy!

Lucy: Any interesting moments from your student life?

Rover: ...There's been a few. But nothing like that.

Weak Frequency: You seeing this, Mom? I'm strong enough to protect others now.

Weak Frequency: I saved a kid from the Tacet Discords. Got her to the escape pod, just like how you saved me back then.

Weak Frequency: Did I do it right, Mom? Will you... be proud of me?

Lucy: David... Reminds me of him...

Wait for Lucy

Lucy: Well, not what I expected to find...

Rover: This is...

Lucy: David's and my place. Or... somethin' like it was.

Lucy: Not the same exactly, but mostly how I remember it.

Lucy: Always ran ads late at night. For anything you could think of, even tickets to the Moon.

Lucy: Y'know, wasn't even as crazy expensive as you might think.

Lucy: We just... weren't ready for it. Not yet.

Lucy: David couldn't stand the smell of smoke. Couldn't stomach fizzy drinks, either.

Lucy: But he'd always buy 'em, kept the fridge stocked. For me.

Lucy: As for smoking... I pretty much quit once we got together.

Lucy: When he couldn't sleep, David would just sit here.

Lucy: Sometimes he'd turn on the TV, stare at the screen... zone out.

Lucy: ...The more chrome he installed, the more often I'd catch him sittin' here.

Lucy: Gloria was David's mom. Worked herself to the bone for him, his future. Then she died in an accident.

Lucy: After that, David dropped outta school, became an edgerunner.

Talk to Lucy

Lucy: ...

Rover: Thinking about David?

Lucy: ...Yeah.

Lucy: He just... never got to see his dream come true. Smasher took that from him.

Rover: The Ivory Gatekeeper said there's no such thing as dying in the Somnoire.

Rover: As long as we find the other Dream Band shards and piece them together, we can see him again.

Lucy: Not talkin' about my dream. Talkin' about reality.

Lucy: Adam Smasher... Night City's top merc... Arasaka's most loyal attack dog...

Lucy: At the foot of Arasaka Tower that day... He killed Rebecca. Then he killed David.

Rover: Then… the Rebecca with us now is…

Lucy: A ghost. Like David, she's just... a phantom born from my dreams.

Lucy: We should talk somewhere else.

Explore ahead

Find Lucy

Lucy: Hell of a backdrop, isn't it?

Lucy: The lights, this city, this... whole dream.

Lucy: Every day, people flood into Night City chasin' something. Nobodies dreamin' of becoming legends.

Lucy: Ever wonder why the Nightmare TD wears Smasher's face? Why it puppets corpo husks?

Rover: Is it because… you're afraid of them, deep down?

Lucy: You're pretty sharp.

Lucy: I thought escaping to Night City would let me leave my worries behind… but all I found was a brief respite.

Lucy: During that time, I joined Maine's crew. And that's where... I met David.

Lucy: He stuck it out at school best he could, took all the bullying... All for his mom's dream.

Lucy: Same thing with our crew. A little recognition from Maine, and he was fully committed. No lookin' back.

Lucy: ...He was good. Truly good. A person like that... rare breed in Night City.

Lucy: That's why he never laughed at my dream of goin' to the moon. Only... that he'd fly me there himself.

Lucy: That promise always weighed heavy on me... Was so bright it blinded me.

Rover:

Lucy: ...Yeah.

Lucy: David always said he was special, and... he was. Not many could use the Sandevistan as he did and keep their sanity.

Lucy: But in Night City, there's only one way to become a legend...

Lucy: Flatline.

Lucy: Don't make a name for yourself by how you live... but by how you die.

Lucy: He launched a full-blown assault on Arasaka Tower. All to save me.

Lucy: In the end, he did—I lived. But he and Rebecca... they died that night.

Lucy: And, eventually, I did go to the Moon. Alone.

Lucy: You know, David...

Lucy: The Moon... It's too quiet without you.

Lucy: In Night City, legends come and go. His might fade as so many others have.

Lucy: But I won't forget.

Lucy: I never will... Even if it hurts.

Walk through the gateway

Find the gateway to the Somnoire

Lucy: The gateway and the shard seem like they're in the same place now... This way.

Rover: ...Watch out!

Save Rebecca

Rebecca: You started the party 'thout invitin' me?!

Rebecca: Hmph!

Stop the lock door from shutting

Rebecca: Yo, here's your iron. So what'd ya think? Talk about a pro exfil!

Lucy: How'd you find us?

Rebecca: Just did what you did—followed your Terminals.

Rebecca: Oh yeah, and I found another Dream Band shard! Wasn't a bad little side gig!

Rover: Rebecca...

Rebecca: I'll fill ya in later. Those Nightmare TDs are here. Watch your back!

Get rid of the Nightmare Tacet Discords

Redirect the train

Get rid of the Nightmare Tacet Discords

Rebecca: Bastard's gaining on us!

Rebecca: Watch out!

Get rid of Nightmare: Adam Smasher

Dodge the missiles

Get rid of Nightmare: Adam Smasher

Rebecca: Dammit! F*cker blew up the bridge!

Rover: The road below is still intact. We'll go that way!

Find another way

Dodge Nightmare: Adam Smasher’s attack

Rebecca: Sh*t! Even my shotty ain't blastin' through this!

Lucy: No time for another route! What now?

Rover: ...Follow me!

Bomb the collapsed building

Navigate the passageway under bombardment

Rebecca: Hey, I see the door!

Rebecca: ...OH, CRAP!

Lucy: REBECCA!

Nightmare: Adam Smasher: At last, those pesky flies have buzzed off.

Nightmare: Adam Smasher: You drown in fear, choke on it... Surrender, and I may let you live.

Nightmare: Adam Smasher: Bold... and foolish.

Nightmare: Adam Smasher: Do try and make this fun!

Defeat the Corpos

Nightmare: Adam Smasher: All that effort, for nothing.

Lucy: ...Shut up.

Nightmare: Adam Smasher: Face it. They're not coming back.

Nightmare: Adam Smasher: Give in to the nightmare. Put an end to your misery.

Lucy: I said... SHUT UP!

Nightmare: Adam Smasher: I grow tired of watching you struggle.

Nightmare: Adam Smasher: See you in hell. Pest.

Lucy: (Sorry...)

Pass through the Dark Dream

Voice from the Past: Run! They're coming! They're right on our tail!

Voice from the Past: I'm hit! Please... Please don't leave me...!

Voice from the Past: Help me, Lucy! Help...

Lucy: Ngh...

Past Frequency: Your crew... Their blood is on your hands.

Past Frequency: If not for you, David and Rebecca would have survived that night.

Lucy: ...Enough.

Voice from the Present: ...The entire Academy will be swallowed by the Somnoire at this rate.

Voice from the Present: Our attacks couldn't even make a scratch... We're at the end of our ropes!

Voices of Nightmare TDs: You put them all in danger... It's all your fault.

Lucy: Shut up!

Lucy: ...David?

Lucy: Wait... Don't leave me!

David: Lucy...

David: I'll see you on the ██.

Lucy: ...

Rover:

Lucy: Why... am I here?

Rebecca: Can thank our kitty-cat friend for that.

Rebecca: Thought I was a flatline for sure when I fell into cyberspace. Then—BAM—whiskers and the train swooped in to save our asses.

Rover: Then the train helped us find where you were.

Rover: You were in the thick of it with the Nightmare TDs. I held off their attacks until I saw an opening to pull you out.

Ivory Gatekeeper: Meow oh my, I can't believe I really had to use that escape plan.

Rebecca: Yeah, why a boring old train? The way you hyped it up, I expected a warpgate or somethin'.

Rebecca: Ain't this just the train we used before?

Ivory Gatekeeper: Don't overestimate a cat, meow! Do you know how hard it is to drive a train with my paws?

Ivory Gatekeeper: And it's only half finished. I had to keep fixing it on my way to save you guys... My paws are still sore.

Rover: Where's the train taking us now?

Ivory Gatekeeper: That depends on Lucy... This is her Somnoire, after all.

Rebecca: Good kitty! C'mere, lemme pet ya!

Ivory Gatekeeper: I said I'm not really a cat! Talk some sense into her, Rover!

Rover:

Ivory Gatekeeper: Mrrow...

Ivory Gatekeeper: Anyway, we may have escaped the Nightmare Tacet Discord for now, but it will be waiting at our destination.

Ivory Gatekeeper: You must be ready to face it when the train stops.

Lucy: If I die... the Nightmare TDs go away with me, right?

Rebecca: Quit yappin' like that! Listen, that's the Nightmare frequencies talkin', not you.

Rebecca: We'll piece together the Dream Band, get David back, and blow that chrome-dome to f*ckin' smithereens!

Lucy: David... isn't coming back.

Rebecca: Like hell he's not!

Lucy: Back in our world, David's already dead. And so are you, Rebecca... You both died that night. Adam Smasher killed you.

Rebecca: ……

Lucy: Since then, I... I haven't slept. Not really.

Lucy: I try fighting back in my nightmares. Sometimes I even win. But... what's the point?

Lucy: The next night, I'm always right back in the city, watching it all happen again.

Lucy: ...And nothing ever changes.

Rebecca: You're such a weirdo. Knew I was dead from the jump.

Rebecca: We all die, Luce. As I see it, the timing don't matter so long as it means somethin'.

Rebecca: Knew what I signed up for when I told David I'd get him to the top of Arasaka Tower. Sucks, yeah. But if I'm already a flatline, why sweat it?

Rebecca: Listen, Lucy... David and I are gone. Nothing's changin' that.

Rebecca: We're only here now 'cause you remember us. 'Cause you still got somethin' to say.

Rebecca: And 'cause... you're still breathin'.

Rebecca: This is just a dream. No matter if reality's a f*ckin' meatgrinder, you gotta wake up and face it.

Rebecca: ...Even if you wake up and we ain't there.

Rover: Lucy, I can't promise that you won't have nightmares again...

Rover: But at least this time, we're here with you to face them.

Lucy: ...The Moon?

Rebecca: C'mon, you knock-off piece of sh*t! Ready to be scrapped?!

Defeat Nightmare: Adam Smasher

Rebecca: Dammit! Our bullets ain't doin' a thing!

Rover: Go get the shard. I'll stall it.

Rebecca: Count me in. I got your back!

Rebecca: We'll leave David to you. Punch it, Lucy!

David: Rover... right?

Rover:

Rover: Heard a lot about you from Rebecca and Lucy.

David: Wakin' up, saw everything you guys had been through... Like fightin' the nightmare.

David: Sorry for all the trouble... And thanks.

Rebecca: Pfft. Wasn't the first mess of yours we've had to clean up.

David: Wow. And this is comin' from you?

Rebecca: Them's fightin' words...

Rebecca: All right, all right, 'nough reminiscin'. Got bigger biz right now, don'tcha?

David: Becca, I...

Rebecca: Go on. Clock's tickin'.

Rover:

Rebecca: Dunno. Play tourist somewhere? Maybe find a cool Echo as my new buddy?

Rebecca: Y'know, honestly...? Kinda like it here at the Academy. Could drag Sigrika and Lynae 'round to some classes, see what that's like.

Rebecca: Got a second crack at life, gotta make it count. Find some fun and share it with the right chooms.

Rebecca: What about you? Wanna be a cyberpunk?

Rebecca: Seriously, Rover. I think you're built for it.

Find David and Lucy

Lucy: ...When it was all over, I went to the Moon. Alone.

David: Lucy...

Lucy: The sunlight was... way brighter than in any BD.

David: Lucy...

Lucy: Got a place there, too. It's small, modest, but I like it.

David: Lucy.

David: I'm just a dream.

David: It's... time for you to wake up.

Lucy: ...But I still have so much to tell you.

David: I know, me too.

David: But you don't need to hear the words of a ghost, not anymore.

David: Thank you, Lucy.

Rebecca: All said and done?

Rebecca: Don't gimme that face... Can't handle all this mushy goodbye crap.

Rebecca: Later, gonkbrain. Take good care of yourself, y'hear?

Abby: Their frequencies are gone...

Rover:

Lucy: Even though it was all a dream... I'm glad I got to see them again.

Rover:

Lucy: The gateway will hold a while longer. Gonna head back to the Academy first, clean up the mess those Nightmare TDs left behind.

Lucy: And after that... I'll let tomorrow decide.

Lucilla: I've reviewed the report. Thank you, everyone, for your effort in handling the situation.

Lucilla: The cat, the dog, even the Soliskin I can follow. But the tag signature... what's the story there?

Lynae: Hehe, well...

Sigrika: President Lucilla, ever heard what they say about Night City?

Meliora: I'm gonna train until I clinch second place!

Fenella: Second place? Why not first?

Meliora: Because I'll wipe Rebecca's record that way, duh... So second place is the goal.

Verma: Second's no walk in the park either. You wanna get there, you can't slack off.

Meliora: Well, my two dear seniors Fenella and Verma... up for some range time?

Fenella: You're on. But fair warning, I won't go easy on you.

Mornye: The leaked frequencies have all been cleared. All contaminated sectors are back to normal now.

Lucy: Couldn't've done it without ya. Calculations of yours made all the difference... Thanks.

Mornye: ...Didn't imagine that the Somnoire's depths could manifest as your Moon.

Lucy: Yeah, a train to the Moon... Wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it myself.

Lucy: ...Makes for one interesting case study, doesn't it?

Rover: Did you get to say your goodbyes?

Lucy: A quiet exit was the plan, but a certain cat had other ideas.

Lucy: ...Couldn't mind its own biz.

Rover: You don't look all that bothered about it.

Ivory Gatekeeper: You'll be waking up in your world soon...

Ivory Gatekeeper: Once you pass through the gateway in the Somnoire's depths, you'll return to your world. Everything that happened in Lahai-Roi… it'll fade like a dream.

Lucy: Too bad... But it's for the best, right? For the stability of both worlds?

Rover:

Lucy: Yeah. The Academy's biz, my own... All tied up.

Lucy: As far as dreams go... sure was a long one.

Ivory Gatekeeper: ...

Ivory Gatekeeper: There… is a method. Somewhere in the Somnoire. To let you stay…

Lucy: Thanks. But I wanna go back.

Lucy: It's their wish... and mine too.

Lucy: ...A parting gift from Lucilla. I can't take it with me. It's yours now.

Lucy: ...Thank you.

Lucy: End of the line... Time to go.

Send Lucy off

Lucy: ...Did I fall asleep?

Misty: Heard you breathing peacefully over the holo.

Misty: You sound different now... Feeling any better?

Lucy: Yeah... Think I... Think I had a dream.

Misty: A dream?

Lucy: ...Can't remember, it's kinda fuzzy.

Lucy: But it was a good dream... That I know.
